New Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives emerge today as 9th National Assembly is inaugurated

History will be made in the Nigerian National Assembly today June 11th as a new Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives as well as other principal officers will cbe elected as the 9th National Assembly will be inaugurated.

While the PDP backs the candidacy of Ali Ndume of the APC for Senate President, the ruling APC has thrown its weight on the candidacy of Ahmed Lawan.  For the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the APC has thrown its weight on the candidacy of Femi Gbajabiamila while the PDP has thrown its weight on Umar Bago.

Later in the day, the new principal officers will emerge after the contest.
