ABC cancels Roseanne Barr’s show after she posts racist, conspiratorial tweets
Roseanne Barr’s highly rated sitcom "Rosanne" which airs on ABC has been canceled by the network after she posted a racist tweet likening African-American former Obama aide to an ape.
Barr’s racist tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett to an ape came hours after she retweeted a string of tweets about Pizzagate, the baseless conspiracy theory about prominent Democrats being involved in a sex trafficking ring.
Barr, who is a staunch Trump supporter, also suggested in another tweet that Chelsea Clinton is part of a Jewish conspiracy, calling her "Chelsea Soros Clinton." (Clinton is married to a Jewish man who is not related to Soros.)
She also retweeted a tweet making fun of Chelsea Clinton's looks.
Barr then took it even further by suggesting that Chelsea's mother, Hillary Clinton should commit suicide.
After Roseanne's tweets, Comedian Wanda Sykes announced that she will not be returning as a producer for the show.
ABC also announced in a statement released Tuesday afternoon that Roseanne's show, which is a reboot of her hit '90s sitcom Roseanne, will be canceled.
ABC said: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values and we have decided to cancel her show."
Roseanne has since deleted her racist tweets and apologized for them. She also said she's leaving Twitter.
