Maina has not been receiving salary since his disengagement in 2013' Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, says
Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has refuted claims that wanted former Pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, has been receiving salaries even after his dismissal from office for fraud in 2013. Recall that Maina's lawyer, Mohammed Katu, appeared before the House of Representatives committee investigating Maina's reinstatement and claimed that the former Pension boss was still on the payroll of the Federal government and that Maina received salary even in October.
Adeosun was at the House of Representatives investigative hearing today and she stated that Maina is not on the payroll of the Federal government.
“We have looked very well and we have no biometrics of Maina, so there is no way he could have received salaries,” Adeosun said
Also the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, who also appeared before the House, said that the last time Maina received salary as a worker in the Federal civil service was in February 2013.
'With respect to salary, let me say from my records and I am saying this categorically that Maina received salary last in 2013 and from March 2013, he was removed from the payroll. So, I don’t know from where Maina was getting salary and I did a test run on the system with different combinations of the name to see if there was anywhere I could see anybody bearing that name receiving salary and there was none. Payment of salary is not just made in the air' he said
